run for the park

The Broad Street Run, an awesome annual 10-mile trek that slices through the heart of Philadelphia, is a really popular event that receives so many registrants each year that they've had to enact a lottery. People love this race because it's a doable distance and a once-a-year opportunity to get to run from the north end of Broad Street to the south right through Center City without having to stop for traffic lights or worry about pedestrians. It also happens in early May, when the weather is pretty much guaranteed to be lovely. So, if you didn't make the lottery this year, or if you're a runner who is finding out about the race just now, all is not lost! It's not too late to get a bib and get in on the action. The Fairmount Park Conservancy, a nonprofit that works to preserve and improve the amazingness that is Fairmount Park, is putting a team together and they've got a spot open for YOU! Here is a chance to participate in this legendary Philly athletic tradition while raising funds, connecting with a community of fellow runners, and giving back to the park. All funds raised will go to preservation of the historic Belmont Plateau trails (have you ever seen the view from out there? It's sick!).

Here's the scoop: runners on the team must pay the $25 registration fee and commit to raising $475 by June 1 (more info here). So in addition to training for the 10-miler, there is some work to be done on your part. But there are perks! And that's where we come in.

In addition to a membership to the Conservancy at the $50 level, a ticket to the 2014 GLOW In the Park event (a fun party in October with music, drinks and food), a t-shirt, a post-run tailgate party, and more, all team runners are invited to a pre-race kick off party at Philadelphia Runner on Wednesday, May 12th. It is there, friends, where you will receive - along with other great stuff - a HubBub beverage voucher, good for one free drink at any of our locations! That's right: we are proud to be doing our part to help out this fundraising effort for the Fairmount Park Conservancy.

Free coffee + like, a dozen other cool perks + a chance to run Broad Street all while raising money for the Park? Sounds like the best reasons to strap on your running shoes and hit the trail.
